The Speaker, Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, Mr. Udeme Otong, has urged medical doctors in the state to stay committed to their core responsibility of saving lives.
Otong made the call in Uyo at a meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, chapter.
The speaker said that it was important for medical doctors to remain committed to their professional calling by ensuring improved services at healthcare facilities in the state.

He said that the Gov. Umo Eno-led administration was committed to boosting healthcare delivery through policy initiatives that would promote public health.
“It is also important for you to maintain good relationships with nurses and other personnel, you are to learn from one other,” he said.
Earlier, Dr. Promise Jacob, the President, NARD, University of Uyo chapter, urged the assembly to support the association’s move towards constructing a secretariat in the state.

Jacob assured that NARD would continue to provide professional and efficient services across healthcare facilities in the state.
