President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reportedly expressed strong displeasure over rising internal party disputes and alleged attempts to undermine established zoning arrangements across several states ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to sources from a late-night meeting with South-West APC leaders at his Bourdillon residence in Ikoyi, the President warned against candidate imposition and emphasized that internal democracy must be strictly observed within the party.
He was quoted as stressing that while governors are empowered to coordinate party affairs in their respective states, such authority must not be abused to impose candidates or override established political understandings, insisting that “no one should be a judge in his own case.”
In a more decisive directive, it was further gathered that the President has instructed the National Chairman of the APC to urgently review all states where zoning arrangements are considered critical, ensuring that sensitive political balances are respected and internal agreements upheld ahead of the 2027 elections.
The directive, according to insiders, is aimed at preventing internal crises and safeguarding political stability within the ruling party.
Meanwhile, the Uyo Liberation Movement (ULM) has reaffirmed its earlier position on the 2027 Uyo State House of Assembly seat, insisting that political zoning and rotational arrangements in Uyo Local Government Area must be respected.
Speaking with newsmen in Uyo, the Secretary General of ULM, Elder (Prince) Emmanuel Sam, maintained that the long-standing zoning formula, which has contributed to peace and political stability in the area since 1999, should not be disrupted by any attempt to impose candidates or alter established understanding among stakeholders.
The group further stressed that any deviation from the agreed political arrangement would amount to injustice against the people of Uyo and could threaten unity within the constituency ahead of the 2027 elections.
ULM reiterated its call for fairness, equity, and respect for existing political structures, insisting that only adherence to zoning principles will guarantee stability and credible representation in the forthcoming election cycle.
